Troubleshooting
My keyboard shortcuts aren’t doing anything
Section titled “My keyboard shortcuts aren’t doing anything”Single-key shortcuts (n, h/j/k/l, etc.) are automatically disabled while you’re typing in a text field, textarea, or have a modal open — this is intentional, so typing “n” into a card title doesn’t create a new card. Click outside any input first, or use the Ctrl/Cmd-modified shortcuts, which always work. See Keyboard shortcuts.
A column says I’m over my WIP limit, but I can still add cards
Section titled “A column says I’m over my WIP limit, but I can still add cards”That’s expected — WIP limits in G Kanban are a visual warning, not a hard block. The column badge and a warning color are there to flag the situation, not prevent it.
My data disappeared after clearing my browser data / switching browsers
Section titled “My data disappeared after clearing my browser data / switching browsers”If you were using G Kanban without signing in, your boards are stored only in that specific browser’s local storage on that specific device — clearing site data, using a different browser, or switching devices won’t carry them over. Sign in and enable sync (a Pro feature) to keep boards available everywhere, or use Export beforehand to save a portable backup.
My import file was rejected
Section titled “My import file was rejected”Imports are validated before anything is applied — the file has to be a real G Kanban export (produced by the Export button), under a reasonable size, and structurally valid. If you’ve hand-edited an exported file, an unexpected shape or a corrupted JSON is the most common reason for a rejected import. Try re-exporting a fresh copy and importing that.
The sync status pill shows an error
Section titled “The sync status pill shows an error”This usually means a temporary network issue or an interrupted push. Sync automatically retries; if it’s still showing an error after a few minutes, try reloading the app. Your local data is never at risk during a sync error — sync only affects the cloud copy.
I can’t find the option to delete my account
Section titled “I can’t find the option to delete my account”The Danger zone in Settings shows Delete account only when you’re signed in with cloud sync active; if you’re local-only, you’ll see Delete local data instead, since there’s no cloud account to delete. See Deleting data & account.
